Client's Identity project recognised by the Project Management Institute of NZ (PMINZ)

Posted 24/9/2018

This month, TransformIT client, the Ministry of Education was awarded the prestigious PMINZ 2018 Tregaskis Brown Public Sector Project of the Year in recognition of the successful delivery of a complex implementation of an Identity Broker designed by TransformIT and implemented by Ministry technology partners UNIFY Solutions with a back-end system delivered by Datacom.

The project successfully migrated over one hundred web facing environments representing over 20 education applications hosted by the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education Commission and New Zealand Qualifications Authority from the legacy Education Sector Authentication and Authorization (ESAA) system to the new Education Sector Logon (ESL). The new IAM service for education sector employees is based on a ForgeRock back-end system with the broker component implemented using an early release of Microsoft's Azure Active Directory B2C service.

The project was a notable success not just for the use of cutting edge technology, but also for the inter-agency collaboration that enabled the project to deliver despite the large number of stakeholder organisations that included not only the three main education agencies but also close engagement with the Department of Internal Affairs to leverage the learnings from their implementation of the RealMe Login service.
